What about Riser Recliner Nuisance calls?
Some companies will shower you with nuisance calls. Especially if you have had a glossy brochure or a demo.
Here are some of the ruses the Riser chair home demo merchants (and a few of the shops) call you up about: -
The “New Seasons Sale” offer
For Spring, Autumn, Christmas anything that fits. The rep is in your area – down the road – round the corner (driving you round the bend?). They can see you today – or can you make it Friday? to talk about it. anything to get a second crack of the whip.
“You have won second prize in a competition”
Believe it or not, some companies, to get a foot in door, even telephone to say that you have won the second prize in a competition (there are no first prizes). Needless to say, this is the first you have heard of it.
They just need to call round to for some details before going ahead. (Uh – Oh.) You know the script.
The prize is of course a big “special just for you” discount.
The chair will still cost about £2,500 - £3000 ish. depending on what you were offered before. What a surprise!
The “Twin Company” con
This is a beaut
You have recently had the at home demo from the “ABC” company and wisely decided to think about their “unbeatable” final offer.
Out of the blue you receive a phone call from the “XYZ” company offering a free demo of a Riser Chair, intrigued you to accept it (we all make mistakes).
What you do not know is ABC and XYZ work together Another agent arrives (a different one) and he knows the earlier offer price.
The new “unbeatable” offer is about £200 less. You could be forgiven for assuming this was the best you can expect and go quietly.
Sometimes this one is coupled with the "second prize in a competition" con.
And don’t forget the second hand, trade in deal, another “just for you” offer.
This is usually £250.00/£300 part exchange on your old chair. Any chair or sofa will do.
Just ask yourself a question: If they are making all these wonderful offers, that can amount to £hundreds and hundreds, what must their profit margin be?
